After long requiring Internet customers to also have land-line phone
service, AT&T is offering stand-alone DSL service for as little as
$20 a month.The San Antonio-based telecommunications giant had feared customers
would ditch their phone lines in favor of wireless phones if they
weren't required to stay tethered, but the Federal Communications
Commission ordered the marketing switch as part of AT&T's 2006
